The bin that taught me how to listen

Meet Our Partner!

Goodcycle is an environmental technology company working toward zero plastic pollution by turning discarded materials into high-quality, useful products through recycling, traceability, and circular design. One of its initiatives, Raindrops of Change, collects plastic bottles and transforms them into school uniforms for students in need.

Through our collaboration with Goodcycle, Ecolve and Bye Bye Plastic Bags collect PET bottles from our school community and send them into this recycling process. What begins as an everyday plastic bottle can become part of a new material and, ultimately, something useful for another student. Our partnership helps us connect a simple action—putting a bottle in the right bin—to a larger cycle of environmental and social impact.
Ecolve & Bye Bye Plastic Bags, two clubs focusing on SDG 12 and 13—responsible consumption and production and climate action— works to make sustainability part of everyday choices. Through our Waste to Wardrobe project, we collect PET bottles each week and recycle them into fabric for school uniforms donated to students in rural communities through GoodCycle. Beyond recycling, we organize awareness campaigns, collection drives, and student-led initiatives to make sustainable habits easier to act on. For a long time, I believed that if students understood the environmental impact, they would naturally change their behavior. An empty recycling bin—and one conversation with a younger teammate—made me question that assumption.
First year and first collecton of the project Waste to Wardrobe in which we successfully collected 100kg of PET bottles within school and is transporting them to Goodycle.

We placed multiple different bins across school, framing it as an inter-grade competition to create motivation. Every week, our members and the ayis go through all the bins and filter, clean, and store them

Promotional video to enocurage the student community to contribute to the cause, using the bottles as a means within atheletics!

Posters like the above were made to make sure that students understand that the bins only accept PET1 bottles
Second year of the Waste to Wardrobe Project, we upscaled the project by spreading the campaign to the whole school. In order to do that, the club members visited ES classrooms and MS assembly to present the importance of recycling and sustainability
We collborated with the art students to deisgn more amusing forms of the bin to ecnourage ES participation (which works significantly!)

Collection of bottles that we received even after the collection have ended for the year. This shows how what we done have really effected our community in cultivating recycling habits
Progression as we neared our goal. Every week or two weeks, we will send updates to the whole school, making the efforts transparent.
The International Day's theme is related to sustainability. Therefore, we participated as a booth, where we presented a game using bottles, and at the same time promote what we are doing and collect PET bottles. Before the event, we have said that those who bring PET to our booth will be able to be enrolled in the raffle. Therefore, 20kg was ultimately being collected through this opportunity.
Tote bags that we designed and mugs made from coffee grounds were sold (all to promote sustainability!), where the profits were donated to our partner company
